The voice, the movesa, the star soul. Isah brings the melodic and emotional sound of the Stavanger dialect to Ypsilon 2023!
99-boy Kaleb Isaac Ghebreiesus, better known as Isah, debuted on SoundCloud in 2017 with the song "E på tur", before being brought in by Karpe to contribute his velvety voice to SAS Plus/SAS Pussy. After the star duo got their hands on him, he jumped on a plane and made the trip to Oslo with only pocket change and buttons in his wallet – it would turn out to be worth it. The song "Hallo" with Dutty Dior was the real breakthrough, with over 30 million plays at the time of writing.
The Stavanger boy has won awards here and there, more specifically both P3 Gull as newcomer of the year and song of the year for the aforementioned bangers, Spellemannpris for the EP Sukkerspinn og Hodepine, and was named newcomer of the year at By:Larm. Since then, he has collaborated with a good handful of Norwegian stars, including Stig Brenner on his latest song "Øyne i nakken". In 2019, he held four shows in the capital, all of which were sold out within two days. When the first thing you heard at the concert was the delicious song "intro" from Sukkerspinn og Hodepine, there wasn't a single arm without goosebumps.
The multi-talented artist has a stage presence that is unlike the pig where he "sings like I was with Backstreet", and offers some footwork that elevates the live show to new heights.
Isah started out as a rising star, possibly without a peer, and now has tens of millions of streams. Luckily, he's making the trip to Byparken in Drammen at Ypsilon 2023 so we can enjoy his gentle face.
